Leadership development that comes to you

Lifescaping is based in Florence and works with organizations across the city and Florence County. Don Walter is a Certified Executive Maxwell Leadership Trainer, Coach and DISC Consultant who delivers training at your location — your conference room, your plant, your church, your school — rather than asking your team to travel to Columbia or Charleston for a leadership day.

Most of the friction inside a working team is not a character problem. It is two people wired differently, both doing their best, with no shared language for the difference. The Maxwell DISC Method gives them that language — and then training, workshops, and coaching turn it into something that changes how Monday actually goes.

Who we work with in Florence

Manufacturers & industrial employers

Plant supervisors are usually promoted off the floor for being the best at the job, then handed a team with no training in how to lead one. DISC gives them a fast, practical read on the people they now manage — and gives you a shift that runs without constant escalation.

Healthcare practices & clinical teams

High-stakes, high-turnover, and full of people wired very differently from one another. Team DISC workshops give clinical and administrative staff a shared language for handoffs, pushback, and the conversations that go sideways under pressure.

Banks, insurance & professional services

Client-facing teams live or die on how they adapt to the person across the table. DISC training makes that adaptability teachable instead of something you hope people pick up.

Schools, districts & higher education

Leadership development for principals, department heads, and administrative teams — plus servant-leadership programs for students through the Global Youth Initiative.

City & county government

Department heads who inherited a team and a budget without a leadership framework. Practical, non-theoretical training that respects the constraints of public-sector work.

Churches & nonprofits

Boards and volunteer teams where everyone means well and nobody wants to name the friction. The Leadership Game surfaces it in ninety minutes without anyone feeling ambushed.

What we deliver on site

Leadership Lunch & Learn

One hour, at your Florence workplace, over lunch. The lowest-friction way to find out whether leadership development is worth investing in for your team.

Maxwell DISC assessment + live debrief

The assessment alone sits in a drawer. The debrief is where it becomes useful — individually, or for a whole department.

Team DISC workshop

Half-day or full-day, on site. Your team learns each other’s styles and practices communicating across them before they leave the room.

The Leadership Game

A facilitated table session that gets a team talking honestly about leadership — usually about things they have avoided for years.

One-on-one executive coaching

Confidential coaching for owners, executives, and senior leaders, in person in Florence or virtually.

Custom on-site workshop

Tell us the actual problem — turnover, silos, a new management layer, a merger — and the session gets built around it.

Full program details are on the team training and coaching pages, and the four DISC pillars are broken down on the DISC overview.

Serving Florence and the wider Pee Dee

Florence is home, but the work travels. Lifescaping regularly delivers training in Darlington, Hartsville, Timmonsville, Lake City, Johnsonville, Pamplico, Marion, Mullins, Dillon, Latta, Bishopville, Lamar, Kingstree, and Cheraw. If your organization sits anywhere in the Pee Dee region, we can be there.

What a first engagement actually looks like

Most organizations in Florence have been pitched leadership training before and are wary of it, usually because a previous session was a day out of production that changed nothing on Monday. Here is how this works instead.

What actually changes afterward

DISC is not a personality quiz and it does not sort people into boxes. It gives a team language for differences they already sense but have never been able to name. In practice that tends to look like this:

  • The direct manager stops being read as hostile. A supervisor who communicates in short, fast instructions is usually trying to remove obstacles, not dismiss people. Once the team can name that pattern, the same words land completely differently.
  • The careful employee stops being treated as a bottleneck. The person asking for one more check is often the reason a costly mistake has not happened yet. Teams learn to build that need into the schedule instead of working around it.
  • Meetings get shorter. A great deal of meeting time is spent re-litigating decisions because two styles need different things before they can commit. Knowing which is which shortens the path.
  • Difficult conversations actually happen. Most managers avoid them because they do not know how the other person will react. A shared framework lowers the stakes enough that the conversation gets had.
  • New supervisors stop guessing. Someone promoted for technical skill finally has a practical model for the part of the job nobody trained them for.

Why a Florence-based trainer, and why on site

There is no shortage of leadership training available to a Florence employer. Most of it means sending two or three people to Columbia, Charleston, or Greenville for a day, where they hear good material in a hotel conference room and come back to a team that did not attend. The material rarely survives the drive home.

Training the whole team together, in the building where the work happens, changes what is possible. The examples can be your actual examples. The people who need to hear each other are in the same room. And nobody loses a day to travel — which matters a great deal to a plant running shifts, a clinic with a full schedule, or a school on a fixed calendar.

Being based here also means the follow-up is realistic. A coaching engagement that requires a two-hour drive each way tends to quietly stop happening. One across town does not. Lifescaping is at 1800 2nd Loop Rd #14, Florence, SC 29501, and works throughout the Pee Dee region.

Leadership training in Florence, SC — common questions

Do you deliver leadership training at our Florence workplace?

Yes. Most Lifescaping engagements are delivered on site — your conference room, your plant floor, your church, your school — anywhere in Florence and Florence County. Sessions can also run virtually when travel or shift coverage makes an in-person day impractical.

Where is Lifescaping located in Florence, SC?

Lifescaping is located at 1800 2nd Loop Rd #14, Florence, SC 29501. You can reach Don Walter at (843) 601-1926 or don.walter@lifescaping.net.

What is the Maxwell DISC Method, and how is it different from a standard DISC test?

DISC is a behavioral assessment that identifies how a person naturally communicates, makes decisions, and responds to pressure across four styles: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness. The Maxwell DISC Method pairs that assessment with a live debrief from a certified consultant, which is the part that turns a report into something a team actually uses. An assessment on its own tends to sit in a drawer.

How small a team can you work with?

Groups from roughly three people up to a few hundred, plus one-on-one executive coaching. Small teams often see the fastest change simply because everyone involved is in the room together.

What does leadership training cost?

It depends on the format, the size of the group, and whether assessments are included — a one-hour Lunch & Learn and a full-day workshop for sixty people are very different engagements. The starting point is a free thirty-minute consultation where the actual problem gets scoped and quoted against.

What is the easiest way to start?

Most Florence organizations start with either a one-hour Leadership Lunch & Learn or The Leadership Game. Both are low-commitment ways to see how your team responds before committing to a larger workshop or a coaching engagement.

Start with a free consultation

Thirty minutes. Bring the actual problem — the manager who cannot manage, the team that will not talk, the turnover you cannot explain. You will get an honest read on whether DISC, coaching, or training fits, or whether you do not need us at all.
